EIDOS

(from the Greek term meaning a figure, an idea offered for view)

a work by
GIOVANNI LAMORGESE

Idea

A bronze and steel sculpture inspired by Luigi Tursi and realized by Giovanni Lamorgese using a traditional Microfusion technique.
Originates from the classic but contemporary concept: man – sphere – universe - divinity - created.
It expresses the cultures, ideas and aspirations (universal, cosmopolitan) of man from all ages
.

Giovanni Lamorgese

Born in Valenzano, Puglia, 37 years ago, studied Scene and Costume Design at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, followed by Interior Design studies and the research and experimentation of innovative materials and Light Installations. He continues to work with Sartoria Farani on stage costumes for the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and prepares displays such as the Jeans & Diamone initiative that opened the AltaModaAltaRoma event. He has staged well-received personal exhibitions of his Sculptures (for example Fotoarazzi and Live Image, on display at the Museo Nuova Era and Galleria Spazioikonos in Bari). He has been the “image maker” of the Supperclub for a number of years.

Lamorgese is an all-round artist that is hard to pin down with a standard definition: sculptor, set designer, costume designer, interior designer, image maker, fashion stylist. He is one not to seek the spotlight or talk about himself and his works, he prefers other people to talk about him and to contextualise his works and ideas. His work is almost always based on the concept of the emotion produced by the image and on the playful side of aesthetic sensibility.

Tired of the perennial search for beauty, Lamorgese’s recipe for success is: equilibrium and harmony, irony and self-irony, playfulness and amusement.
